Acne Scar Treatment with Active FX Laser Resurfacing
What is acne scarring?
Many people who have acne confuse the purple or brown spots with acne scarring. It is important to get the acne treated with diet and medication, so that new lesions do not form. When this is accomplished in two months or less, the brown or purple spots clear up. They are not scars, but rather a condition called postinflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Acne scarring is an irregular texture of the skin caused by destruction of collagen in the dermis during the intense inflammation of cystic acne. These textural changes can be quite disfiguring but now there is something that can be done to improve the pitting and scarring in the aftermath of cystic acne.
How is the scarring treated?
Active FX fractional laser resurfacing can improve the depth of scarring and can stimulate the growth of new collagen in the dermis. Improvement is usually seen after one treatment, although more than one treatment may be required for best results.
